Mission Life VIII 2019

Topic: Mental Health

Seeking entrepreneurial teams of students to anticipate and solve challenges that face immigrants and those who serve them.  Teams of 4 students from any UIW School or College should have their team names, ideas and abstracts sent to Ricardo Gonzalez (rigonza4@uiwtx.edu) or Dr. Renee Bellanger (bellange@uiwtx.edu) by Friday, September 6, 2019.

Evaluation of Abstracts

Clarity of the abstract
  • Does the abstract provide all of the information needed by Mission Life in order to understand it?
  • Is it concise and to the point?
Quality and creative work: “See a need fill a need”
  • Is the work that is undertaken relevant to the current state of knowledge in the field?
  • Is it a potentially important contribution?
  • Is the work of interest to a general audience?
Creativity and originality
  • Is the work novel?

The main goal of the competition is to foster innovative ideas and entrepreneurship that addresses real world problems aka “See a need fill a need”.  Any FSOP Participants may request that participation in this activity be included as Co-curriculum with Dr. Bryant.

This year's topic is Mental Health. This competition addresses the issues of the 21st century and also brings together some of the brightest minds from around the world, which create solutions to the challenges we face today.

The local teams will compete in the UIW finals in September at the SEC, and in the international finals on November 11, 2019 at the Pontifical Catholic University of the Parana in Curitiba, PR, Brazil. To show solidarity between the participating universities, a cultural activity and a service day for the teams and sponsors will be held on November 12, 2019.
