Glynis Sims-Bonds, MHA, MA, CPhT, CSPT
Director, Pharmacy Technician Program
Glynis Sims-Bonds hails from Wichita, Kansas. She is married to Kenneth Bonds from Detroit, Michigan.She joined the United States Army Reserves in 1984 and served until 1986 as a Personnel Specialist. In 1986, she received an honorable discharge from the Army Reserves, and she signed up for active duty in the United States Air Force. Ms. Bonds served as a pharmacy technician in the United States and abroad. She was stationed at Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, Mississippi; Kadena AB in Okinawa, Japan; Randolph Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas; and Laughlin Air Force Base in Del Rio, Tx. In 2006, she retired from the Air Force and she and her husband, Kenneth, settled in San Antonio.
Ms. Bonds worked at Brooke Army Medical Center in the outpatient pharmacy and in 2016, she decided she wanted to teach and develop pharmacy technicians. Her first teaching job was at Alamo Colleges, Good Careers Academy. From there, she was hand-selected by Alamo Colleges to build a pharmacy technician program under the Health Professions Opportunity Grant (HPOG), where she taught and built the program from the ground up. When that program ended, she accepted a position as Program Director and Lead Instructor for the first San Antonio based Pima Medical Institute Pharmacy Technician Program. After two successful years at Pima, to include a 100% pass rate on the Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam, (PTCE), she was selected for the position of Program Director for the first Feik School of Pharmacy, Pharmacy Technician Program. The first class successfully started on January 4, 2022, with plans to start two new cohorts every year.
In her spare time, Ms. Bonds works as a Youth Music Director and pianist at a church in Schertz, Texas. She also loves exercising, riding her bike, and driving fast cars.
