Cynthia Franklin holds the position of Research Associate for the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Feik School of Pharmacy, in performing technical research by modifying and collaborating with protocols and methodology of different varieties of research projects. Cynthia has made significant contributions to project plan, design, implementation, coordination, and analysis of specific aspects of a handful of projects. Her duties involve research, operating lab equipment, ordering lab supplies and equipment for the FSOP internal grant, performing experimental procedures, collecting and summarizing research data.
Cynthia’s responsibilities included assisting and conducting a variety of scientific experiments and research projects of limited complexity, collecting, evaluating and interpreting data for research. These research experiments include animal brain tissue processing; immunohistochemistry, Western Blots, Gel preparation/staining, ICV cannula implantation, renal nerve recording, animal handling, lyophilization, Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC), Drying Solvents, Chemical Reactions, mass spectrometry, CD spectroscopy, SDS Page, protein dialysis, spectroscopy assays, slide mounting, buckle swab spin kit Assay, flash chromatography, and High-performance liquid chromatography to assure high quality results and complete analysis. In addition, she collects data and prepares results for presentation at meetings/conferences/posters, and written papers for publication.
Cynthia was born and raised in Butte, Montana and came to San Antonio to pursue her college and research career. Cynthia currently holds a M.S. in Clinical Laboratory Investigation, from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, and has over 10 years’ experience in research.
